Anne Hibbens is executed for witchcraft.

The sister of then Deputy Gov. Bellingham, she is hanged on Boston Common. Hibbens had earlier been excommunicated from the church for usurping her husband’s authority by berating a carpenter for over-charging for his work. She and her husband William, a member of the General Court, lived on the south side of Water Street, east of Devonshire Street.
